Ladies and gentlemen,
As you have no doubt seen by now, the current forecast track for
Hurricane Florence is both extremely unusual and extremely
unfortunate for citizens of our region. What troubles me the
most is the fact that - if this forecast remains valid - this
system will slow down, turn, and maintain hazardous conditions in
our area well into the weekend.
We already have hundreds of linemen committed to SEC's system
from as far away as Missouri that will begin making their way
toward us starting tomorrow (Thursday). These men will
supplement our own force of linemen, electrical construction
contractors, and right-of-way clearing contractors.
However, none of these crews can begin the restoration process
until the danger passes. Unfortunately, this danger could
last a matter of days - not hours. I need all of you to
consider emergency shelters if an extended power outage could be
considered life threatening to you or your loved ones.
Rest assured, Santee Electric Cooperative will place 100% of its
focus on power restoration until every service is energized.
Until then, I ask you to join me in praying for all of the lives in
the path of Hurricane Florence and for the strength and safety of
all of those tasked with returning our lives to normal. Thank
