Our text messaging service is a free service provided to members that allow you to report outages, check the status of your outage, and receive restoration notices by text message. Members may also receive notifications from SEC concerning planned service interruptions in your area and/or other emergency information pertinent to potential service interruptions.
The software uses the following key words:
SECIN – Registers your account to the texting service. Your mobile number must be on file to use this option
OUT – Reports an outage at the location associated with your account
STATUS – Provides an update on the status of your outage
HELP – Provides instructions on how to use the service and a number to contact member services
STOP – Opts you out of the text messaging service
All Text messages will be sent and received from 85700. Save this number with an easy to remember name, for quick access.

What if I have more than one account?
A member must have 4 accounts or less to register for this service. You may register up to all 4 accounts.
Do I have to text the words in all CAPS, and what happens if I text something else?
This service is not case sensitive. OUT, STATUS, HELP, and STOP are the key words for this system. If you respond with any other word, the system will reply with: Outage Reporting. Text OUT to report an outage, STATUS for outage update, HELP for more info.
What do I need to do if my cell phone number changes?
You may update your contact information through the My Profile link on your online account, Rep using the My Profile link, mobile app, or by calling Member Services at 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday to update your

The number of text messages may vary per member. Text messages will be sent when a member reports an outage, or to communicate potential service interruptions at your location. Please remember that you can stop this service at any time by texting STOP to 85700.
