October is a great month for a lot of reasons. It's the heart of college football season. The leaves are changing. The temperature is changing. The Major League World Series is kicking off. And let's not forget hay rides, haunted houses and Halloween candy! (There's some alliteration for all of those dedicated English teachers out there!) What's your favorite reason?
On a more serious note, October is special because it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a perfect opportunity to show support for the wonderful, strong women in our lives who are fighting bravely. Real men wear pink!
For us here at Santee Electric Cooperative, October is also special because it's National Co-op Month. This is a time for us to take a moment to recognize what makes us special - being member-owned, so we are going to celebrate with member appreciation events. The many thousands of men and women across Clarendon, Florence, Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties who make up our membership are the strength of this great cooperative.
We are very excited about the Member Appreciation Days scheduled at our five locations throughout this month. I am personally excited about this, because - if the Good Lord's willing - I'll be able to attend all five of them. The employees and I are all very eager for a chance to spend some time with you, enjoy lunch with you and answer any questions you might have about the cooperative for which we all care so much. I have been extremely pleased with the display of excitement and support that our board has shown for these events as well. Hopefully, you can find time to join us at one of the locations where the events are scheduled.
The board, the employees and I all hope that all of you know how much we truly appreciate all of you. Whatever your favorite part is, I hope you have a wonderful October. And I hope you can join us at one of these events. Please join me in praying for good weather and safe travels for all of our members, and thank you for your membership.
