Santee Electric Cooperative, Inc. has experienced significant outages in the Belle Isle and Georgetown areas. Initial reports are that this is the result of severe weather and lightning in the area. With the severity of the damage, it will take hours to restore power to most of the 1,700 members affected.
It is critical that children and the elderly are watched closely for signs of heat related illness and dehydration. If you have medical needs and are affected adversely by heat, please seek shelter.
While Santee Electric Cooperative, Inc. always has on-call personnel standing by, this situation calls for additional personnel, engineers and equipment to repair. Please avoid areas where work is in progress so employees can safely complete their tasks.
