Blake Graham, a Santee Electric Cooperative member and South Carolina's representative for the Youth Leadership Council, was in San Diego in March as part of NRECA's 70th Annual Meeting. Graham and his fellow YLCers worked at the NRECA Congressional Action Center, encouraging cooperative members to contact their U.S. senators and representatives on key co-op issues, including protecting consumers and keeping electricity bills affordable. During the opening general session, Graham also carried the South Carolina flag as part of the traditional 'Parade of States' ceremony. The Youth Leadership Council is an extension of the Washington Youth Tour, a group of more than 1,500 high school students from across the country who visit Washington, D.C. each summer. Graham was selected by his peers to represent S.C. during the 2011 Washington Youth Tour.
